Nobody remembers exactly when the Dragon first appeared.
Some say it came from the ocean after the Fires.
Others believe it was created during the final corporate wars — a biomechanical weapon that escaped control when civilization collapsed.
By then, Vancouver was already dying.
The skyline still glowed at night, but most towers were empty.
Rain mixed with radioactive ash.
SkyTrains ran without passengers.
Entire districts disappeared beneath fog and silence.
And above the city…
something enormous moved through the clouds.
People called it many names:
The Ghost Serpent
The Neon Dragon
The Storm Above Vancouver
But survivors usually called it only one thing:
THE DRAGON
It hunted light.
Whenever it appeared:
- power grids failed
- drones vanished
- entire streets went dark
- emergency broadcasts stopped mid-sentence
Nobody could stop it.
Corporate security armies failed.
Military convoys disappeared.
Autonomous defense systems turned into burning debris falling into Burrard Inlet.
The Dragon owned the night.
Years passed.
Humanity adapted.
People hid underground.
Old sign shops became shelters.
LED panels were reused as heating walls.
Vehicle wrap vinyl became insulation against toxic rain.
Hope became small.
Quiet.
Almost extinct.
Then the rumors started.
At first, nobody believed them.
People spoke about a gigantic figure moving through the industrial ruins of Port Coquitlam.
Orange fur.
Green glowing eyes.
Ancient samurai armor mixed with scavenged cybernetic machinery.
A giant cat.
Ridiculous.
Impossible.
But the stories spread.
Some witnesses claimed they saw him standing on abandoned rooftops during lightning storms.
Others said an armored Land Cruiser covered in neon graphics appeared moments before Dragon attacks.
Children started drawing the same symbol everywhere:
two glowing cat eyes in the rain.
And beneath them:
WE WRAP YOU
Nobody knows where the Samurai Cat came from.
Some say he was born in the ruins of an old family-run sign shop that somehow survived the Collapse.
Some believe he was created by forgotten engineers who wanted to build a guardian instead of a weapon.
Others think Vancouver itself created him.
A final immune response against extinction.
Then came the Night of False Dawn.
The Dragon descended over downtown Vancouver during the largest electrical storm in decades.
The sky turned violet.
Buildings lost power.
Emergency sirens echoed across the city.
People thought it was over.
Then something answered the Dragon’s roar.
A second sound.
- Louder.
- Deeper.
- Ancient.
From the flooded industrial districts emerged a colossal silhouette surrounded by blue neon reflections.
A giant armored cat.
Katana glowing.
Green eyes burning through radioactive rain.
The Samurai Cat had arrived.
The battle lasted less than seven minutes.
Nobody knows exactly what happened.
The storm interfered with all recordings.
But afterward:
- the Dragon disappeared
- parts of downtown were destroyed
- strange claw marks were found on skyscrapers
- and for the first time in years…
the city lights came back on.
Since that night, people have reported sightings across Metro Vancouver.
A wrapped Land Cruiser disappearing into fog.
Glowing cat eyes in alleyways.
Mysterious neon signs appearing overnight.
QR codes leading to forgotten stories.
And sometimes…
during heavy rain…
people swear they can still hear the Dragon somewhere above the clouds.
Waiting.
