Proper adhesion and long-term performance of vinyl graphics and signage depend heavily on the condition of the installation surface. Because the manufacturer does not control surface preparation, environmental conditions, or installation practices after delivery, certain limitations apply.
Surface Condition
Vinyl graphics adhere best to clean, smooth, properly painted, and fully cured surfaces.
Surfaces that may cause adhesion issues include:
- dusty or dirty surfaces
- textured or porous materials
- freshly painted surfaces that have not fully cured
- surfaces exposed to oils, waxes, or silicone products
- aged, chalking, or deteriorating paint
Failure of vinyl to properly adhere due to surface condition is not considered a product defect.
Paint Damage Risk
Removal of vinyl graphics may damage paint or underlying surfaces, particularly when:
- paint was previously damaged or poorly bonded
- surfaces were repainted without proper preparation
- paint was not fully cured
- the surface is old or weathered
Vinyl removal may occasionally lift paint or surface coatings.
This is a known risk associated with adhesive vinyl products and is not the responsibility of the manufacturer or printer.
Vehicle Graphics
Vehicle paint quality varies significantly depending on the age of the vehicle, prior repairs, and repainting.
When applying vinyl graphics or magnets to vehicles:
- surfaces must be clean and smooth
- magnetic signs must be removed periodically to clean both surfaces
- magnets should not be used on recently repainted vehicles
The customer assumes responsibility for verifying that the vehicle surface is suitable for graphics installation.
Magnetic Signs
Vehicle magnets require proper maintenance:
- remove and clean regularly
- ensure both magnet and vehicle surface are dry
- avoid installation over body seams, trim, or rust
Failure to maintain magnetic signs may result in paint discoloration, surface marks, or loss of magnetic adhesion.
These conditions are not considered product defects.
Environmental Conditions
Extreme temperatures, moisture, and UV exposure may affect vinyl performance.
Installation should not be performed:
- during rain
- on wet surfaces
- in freezing temperatures
- on surfaces exposed to heavy condensation
Improper installation conditions may lead to premature failure of the graphics.
Customer Responsibility
By accepting delivery or installation of printed graphics, the customer acknowledges the limitations of adhesive materials and assumes responsibility for proper installation and surface suitability.
Quarter Cheaper Signs is not responsible for damage to surfaces, paint, glass, or other substrates resulting from installation or removal of graphics.
